Brookfield District Museum

The Brookfield District Museum is housed in the old Pullenvale Post Office building, which has undergone extensive alterations organized by the Brookfield Show Society, since it was moved to the Showgrounds from near its original site in White Cedar Road, Pullenvale in 2003.

The Museum was officially opened by Councillor Margaret de Wit on 3 December 2004.Displays in the three rooms include memorabilia of the Brookfield Show and Brookfield families. Photographs, maps and relics of days goneby when timbergetting and farming were prominent in the district are also presented. One very special item exhibited is the Pacey Waistcoat which is over 150 years old. Patrick Pacey (a Roman Catholic) married Ann Bloxsom (a Protestant) in 1854. Patrick's father was not pleased that his son was marrying a protestant and displayed his anger by throwing a tailor's iron at his son, breaking his nose. Later, he repented and made Patrick a waistcoat for his wedding. The waistcoat has recently been cleaned and stabilized. There are many other fascinating exhibits to see at the Museum. So come along and learn about the history of the district.

The Museum is open from 2pm - 4pm on the first Sunday of each month and will be open from 9am - 5pm each day during the Brookfield Show.
